The choice between cream and lotion is not so simple
Therefore, it is important to know the difference between the two, including their benefits and ingredients. The wrong choice can result in completely wrong skin care, and therefore your chosen Cream/Lotion will not help your skin. Read on to learn more.
What is Lotion?
Perhaps the biggest difference between Lotion and Cream is that Lotion has a higher water content. A lotion is typically a mixture of water (or watery ingredients like aloe vera) and oils, is lighter than Cream and does not feel greasy - due to the lower oil content. In addition, ours is formulated with sebum-stabilizing herbs, which makes you less oily during the day. We have also used 3 different hyaluronic acids to mimic the skin's own moisture, as much as possible - to saturate moisture and to make the skin extra supple and plump.
Since we primarily recommend our Lotion to those with a more oily skin type, we have also added goldenseal and prebiotics to strengthen the skin's barrier function and to reduce redness.
What are the benefits of Lotion ?
Because Lotion is more easily absorbed by the skin, many oil-phobics (those who hate feeling a film on their skin) love it, even if their skin is not oily. It leaves less oil than Cream and is ideal for use during the day and in the hot summer months.
What is Cream?
Like Lotion, Cream is a mixture of oil and water, but with a higher concentration of oil. Cream is thicker in consistency than Lotion and therefore creates more of a barrier. Especially when combined with our Hydra Serum which is "a glass of water" for the skin.
Creams feel greasier than lotions due to the higher percentage of oil.
What are the benefits of Cream ?
Like Lotion, Cream is used to treat and prevent dry and red skin and keeps it hydrated, soft and moisturized. The Cream creates a barrier that provides extra moisture and is best for normal, dry, very dry and eczema skin.
We have formulated our Cream with 3 different hyaluronic acids (as in the Lotion) to keep the skin saturated, supple and plump. This one has added goldenseal, prebiotics and vitamin B to strengthen the skin's own barrier function and defense. The cream can be used both morning and evening - it does not contain SPF.
